The Reading Teacher’s Teacher

Partnering with schools to bring effective reading instruction into every K-3 classroom.

MEET SAMANTHA

Dr. Samantha Caesar has spent nearly a decade on one question: why do so many children still struggle to read when we know so much about how reading works?

She has answered it from every seat. As a classroom teacher, a literacy coach, a professor, and today partners with schools to bring reading science into everyday practice.

The goal never changes: a child's ability to read should never depend on which classroom they walk into.

The problem is rarely effort. It is direction. In reading instruction, so much gets called important that it is hard to know what comes first. I built the Teach What Works Framework™ to protect the practices the research keeps pointing back to, so what matters most finally gets the time it deserves.

MY APPROACH

WAYS SCHOOLS WORK WITH SAMANTHA

Consulting

Samantha partners with schools through the Teach What Works™ Framework, a two phase approach to strengthening K-3 Tier 1 reading instruction. Partnerships take shape through a framework walkthrough call, professional development, and coaching.

Speaking

Samantha keynotes and presents at conferences, district events, and professional development days on reading science, Tier 1 reading instruction, and leading reading.

If stronger reading instruction is a goal for the 2026-27 school year, let's talk.

WHY SCHOOLS TRUST SAMANTHA

Dr. Samantha Caesar is a K-3 literacy consultant, licensed reading specialist, and Associate Professor of Reading. She helps schools turn reading science into strong, consistent instruction in every classroom.

Samantha does not just teach reading science. She works inside it. She has conducted and published original reading research, and she serves as a reviewer for peer reviewed journals and academic book publishers. She guides doctoral candidates through their own research. So when she tells a school what the evidence supports, she is not commenting on the research from a distance. She is immersed in the research at every stage. That is the difference between someone who has read the research and someone who has a true command of it.

She has also lived the work at every level. Samantha began as a classroom teacher, became a literacy coach partnering with teachers to strengthen their instruction, and now consults with schools to build reading programs that hold. She also teaches masters and doctoral students in reading education, preparing the next generation of reading specialists and leaders in the field. Over her career she has worked with hundreds of teachers, which is why they call her The Reading Teacher's Teacher. She understands how adults learn, and she designs professional development and coaching that teachers actually use, grounded in the day to day realities they juggle.

Samantha is the founder of Ignite and Educate, her K-3 literacy consulting practice, and currently serves on two boards, with past service on a public school board. She presents regularly at national conferences on her research, the Teach What Works™ Framework, and a wide range of topics across reading and literacy. She has also been invited to deliver a university commencement address. Schools bring her in because she bridges research and real classrooms, giving teachers both the tools and the direction to do their best work.
